From Gardening to Art

Every picture tells a story.

We have started an art group at our Bowling Club now that the green has closed.
I was thinking about the amount of data we have stored in our memory cells once we grow older.
This gave me an idea of my next project for painting.I copied this image from the internet to use as an idea. Then using my web camera took my own profile and drew my brain around it using "paint".Then printed out the result to copy.
I am now doing a self portrait of myself with an extra large brain .I have started to paint images inside my new brain  of what memories are stored inside it.(My Husband thinks I should leave it empty!)My first image was a clock as time has always been very important to me.Even now that I am retired,my days are planned.

Most of the people in the class are painting Animals and Flowers.I decided to try something different!
Watch this space for further updates.

Potatoes

My little poly tunnel.

The potatoes are growing well.I have transferred 2 bags to the greenhouse and this lot will be moved soon once I have got rid of all of the tomato plants.

My latest gardening news.

I love the way my cucumbers make their own supports. This one is wrapped around a cane.Another has joined up with the tomato!

My pepper plants are showing signs of life.

I have planted some potatoes in bags.Which apparantly will be ready for Christmas dinner.
Will take some pictures once the rain stops. This weather is so unpredictable just now.

My salad crops are taking shape at last.

Fuschias,Busy Lizzies,Lobelia.
Tomatoes
Rather a cloudy day today.A large black cloud was hanging about for ages and eventually the rains came down.
My tomato plants are showing signs of ripening at last.Cucumbers growing.
The Busy Lizzies enjoy the rain as the ground is very dry.I should water them more often.

Today at the E.N.T.

Today I visited the Ear Nose and Throat Department at The Freeman Hospital.
Appointment was for 10.45 am. Managed to get a car parking space at 10 10am.
The E.N.T. outpatients was on the second floor. Arrived in time to get a cup of Coffee, staff at the registration desk really efficient.
My name was called out at 10.30am,which was excellent as the appointment was for 10.45am.Greeted by a friendly Audiologist who explained the procedure. Sat in the sound proof box listening to the different noises and pressing the button when I heard a sound.
Once this was completed she then produced a chart and explaiined the changes in my hearing from the last visit.Slight deterioration.
Impressions were then taken of my ear for my new hearing aid. The one I have at present is about 5 years old.
I will get an appointment in no more than 12 weeks to have my new Hearing Aids fitted.
I am going to have another one for the left ear this time.As well as a replacement for the Right Hearing aid.
As far as I am concerned today my treatment as a N.H.S patient was excellent.

More Diversions

The garden was watered well by the rain today.Apart from the greenhouse.Sorted out some of my lettuce, then I was off to play bowls.I am the ladies match secretary of our local bowling club.Lost the game never mind I lost it to a good player.
The picture above was taken at a bowling club near Troon which we visited on a bowls tour.

Then off to the slimming club this evening. Lost 1 pound.Only 9 more pounds to loose then I will be on my target weight.Having said that I have just ate 4 biscuits while writing this.

Fieldmouse

In between the rain I tidied up the garden today.Plenty of tomatoes in the greenhouse, all green.I wish they would hurry up and ripen.
Tonight I went to the art group which meets on a Monday evening. That's the last one until September.
I am painting a field mouse standing on a Rose Hip just now.My watercolours are not really very good. However I find painting quite relaxing.
Have just been looking up field mice as I would like to add another to the bottom of my picture. Not that I really care for mice, but they do seem to be interesting creatures.
(The photograph above is taken from the internet.)

The Greenhouse Jungle

Below in the first picture is one of the3 pepper plants ,the casualties that I recovered from my wind blown polytunnel.

My greenhouse is becoming a jungle.I have been removing the sideshoots from the tomatoes. Must admit I did miss some. You can see the brick works I made for the cucumber plant. The polythene drops down at night.Today we have had some showers saved watering the garden.Apparently we are going to have some fine weather next week.
I have just had an email from Suttons seeds about Autumn seed potatoes in grow bags.
I am tempted but have never grown potatoes.May give them a try.I wonder if I can use my new polytunnel once I get the connectors?

My Garden

I have decided to write blogs about my garden. Just now I have 8 tomato plants in the greenhouse+ a Cucumber plant and some lettuce.
The other Cucumber plant is in a little house I made from bricks at the bottom of the garden.
3 pepper plants are in a mini greenhouse.
I started off with a new tunnel bought 4 weeks ago about a metre high and 4 metres long.
I originally had 9 pepper plants which I grew from seed. However my tunnel blew down twice in the wind last week.I lost 6 of my peppers. The 2 cucumbers had to be re housed. They were also grown from seed.
I also have a bush tomato plant growing in the conservatory.Another casualty from my polytunnel.
Sometimes I wonder if it would have been easier going out to the shops and buying Cucumbers and peppers.
However its quite a challenge growing your own.
I also planted about 80 marigold seeds this year which have been damaged by the wind.
Busy lizzies doing well.Geraniums just starting to grow.
Will do a photo tour tomorrow.
My tunnel is now rolled up in the garden shed.I am to get some new connectors delivered as some of them were damaged in the wind.
I am trying to think what I can plant in it once I get it fixed.
